Per Capita’s David Hetherington talks about the upcoming election on Lateline on ABCTV.

He says that for the first time, we’ve got a genuine divide in the economic debate.

Labor is saying they’ll cut down on the generosity of the tax system at the top end and channel it back into services, whereas the Coalition are offering tax cuts.

It’s going to be a long campaign – 8 weeks, and both leaders and the bulk of their campaign staff have never run an election before.

Says David, “We’ll probably see more thrills and spills on the campaign than we’ve seen in recent years, because of the relative inexperience of both candidates and the times these teams will have to spend together under very intense pressure.”
