Abbey Ideas Forum

The Abbey Ideas Forum exists to promote progressive women in Australian public policy. It provides a dynamic and diverse network of mid-career and senior-career women to advance this aim.

The Forum is a way to engage women in the public policy process generally and in Per Capita’s work specifically.

The Forum will develop a voice for progressive women in public policy which is outside of party politics and other traditional avenues for progressive debate. It will also obtain input from members of the Forum into Per Capita’s research streams. Through this, the Forum has a role in developing the expertise and profile of Australia’s next generation of strong progressive women.

Another function of the Forum is to be an additional fundraising arm for Per Capita.

Maxine McKew launched the Forum in August 2014 at the home of Ann Sherry AO in Sydney, “The Abbey” in Annandale, hence The Abbey Forum.  The Forum will host quarterly events in Sydney .
