Join Per Capita at the Wheeler Centre for an address by Shadow Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus on The Assault on Truth and Accountability in Australian Federal Politics.
Mark was elected to Parliament in 2007 as the Member for Isaacs. He is a strong advocate for social justice and believes in creating a sustainable environment for our future generations.
During his time in the law, Mark worked with Australia’s Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and appeared in the landmark Stolen Generations Case.
Mark served as Cabinet Secretary and Assistant Minister for Climate Change in the Gillard Government, and later as Attorney-General, Minister for Emergency Management, Minister for the Public Service and Integrity and as Special Minister of State in the Gillard and second Rudd Governments.
Mark is proud of his achievements in government and opposition which include seeing off the Abbott and Turnbull governments’ proposed weakening of the race hate protections in section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, strengthening whistleblower protections, and amending the Sex Discrimination Act to increase protections for LGBTI Australians.
Tuesday 28 January, 6pm for 6:30pm start
