Abbey Ideas Forum: Women and Political Power

The US election has been a wild ride.  At the next Abbey Ideas Forum event, we will be discussing whether having a women run for the most powerful elected position in the world might change our perceptions of women and power.  How much did gender play a role in the campaigns, the commentary, and the result.

Our guest speaker is Verity Firth, Executive Director, Social Justice at UTS.  Verity has been an active commentator during the campaign on Planet America, and as a former Minister as well as her new role leading change at a major university, will bring a great perspective to lead this discussion.

She will be in conversation with Eleanor Hall, journalist and Presenter of The World Today on ABC Radio.

Date: Thursday 24 November 2016
Time: 6.00 for 6.30 – 7.30pm
Venue: Boardroom at Maddocks Lawyers, L27, Angel Place, 123 Pitt Street, Sydney
RSVP: Allison Orr, a.orr@percapita.org.au

The Abbey ideas Forum was launched in 2014 by Per Capita to build a dynamic and diverse network of women to engage with Australian public policy.  We aim for this Forum to be a way for smart, interested women to engage with the public debate and to have input into Per Capita’s public policy work.
